View of snow on Mt. Diablo, March 1970, showing damage from fire. In researching this photo, Sheila Rogstad received the following tory from a member of Concord Fire Dept.: George Louis Bisso of Concord set 52 fires (years were not given) He was such a large man that he was able to throw flares far up hills of dry grass. Bisso Lane is named for his family. George L. Bisso was born 05/04/1916 and passed 05/07/1991 in Concord. His father, Matthew G. Mangini (01/28/1894-06/05/1991) was from an old ranching family in the area from the 1880's. Their land shared property lines with the Walnut Creek Ginochio family. In 2005 t208 acreas were sold to Save Mt. Diablo through the Coastal Conservancy. |
